seep, unwrought

seep unwrought for string quartet was composed for the Phoenix Art Museum collaboration. It was premiered in April of 2018 in the Phoenix Art Museum by the Herberger String Quartet.

The work is inspired by the work "Desert Rain God" by Louisa McElwain. It is currently a part of the Border Crossings: Mexico and the American Southwest exhibit in the Phoenix Art Museum.

seep, unwrought aims to capture not only a desert rain weather event, but also the style and method that peremated all of McElwain's art. In this way, there are many elements determined by the performer and the prevalence of non-pitched sounds give a gritty and unfocused feel to the soundscape.
