What One Once Was
What One Once was is a trio for soprano, alto flute, and vibraphone in three movements:
I. Is
II. Will
III. Was
The piece was composed while studying with Peter Westergaard and features contemporary Native American poetry by Anna Lee Walters and Lance Henson. The work is dedicated to my late grandfather, Jerry Williams, a member of the Comanche Nation.
It was premiered by soprano Amy Little and members of the University of Alabama Contemporary Ensemble under the direction of Dr. Amir Zaheri.
